To bush-hog means to clip the tall, spindly weeds in a pasture so that the tender grass shoots are revealed for the cows, horses, llamas, and burros to eat. I know it is necessary, but the weeds are really wild flowers, and they look pretty, all ragged and natural and blooming. Left alone, the thistles and the cursed multi-floral roses will take over and become a real problem, but until that happens, the pasture is a panorama of sweet and colorful blossoms. I could create a set of jewelry entitled “Bush-hogging, After,” but that would be a simple string of green, as in grass.

This set is created with a pastoral mix of aventurine, chrysoprase, semi-round freshwater pearls, rose quartz, and sterling silver. Hand-knotted with strong jeweler’s thread, this ensemble is scenic, but not suitable for cattle grazing.

The earrings are 7/8 inch long.
